Fix Windows 11 Version 24H2 Not Installing Install Error 0x800700b7

 

  1. Restart:

    • Click the Windows "Start" button.
    • Click the "Power" icon.
    • Select "Restart".
  2. Internet:

    • Open a web browser and try loading a website to verify internet connectivity.
    • If using Wi-Fi, ensure a strong signal.
    • If using Ethernet, check the cable connection.
    • Restart your router/modem if needed.
  3. Disk Space:

    • Open "File Explorer".
    • Click "This PC".
    • Check the free space on your "C:" drive. Ensure you have at least 20GB of free space.
    • Delete unnecessary files or uninstall programs to free up space.
  4. External Devices:

    • Disconnect all USB drives, printers, external hard drives, and other non-essential peripherals.
    • Leave only your mouse and keyboard connected.
  5. Windows Update Troubleshooter:

    • Click the Windows "Start" button and open "Settings".
    • Click "System".
    • Click "Troubleshoot".
    • Click "Other troubleshooters".
    • Click "Run" next to "Windows Update".
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.
  6. Reset Windows Update Components:

    • Search for "cmd" in the Windows search bar.
    • Right-click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator".
    • Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each:
      • net stop bits
      • net stop wuauserv
      • net stop appidsvc
      • net stop cryptsvc1
      • net stop msiserver
      • ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
      • ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 Catroot2.old
      • net start bits
      • net start wuauserv
      • net start appidsvc
      • net start cryptsvc
      • net start msiserver2
    • Close Command Prompt and restart your computer.
  7. SFC and DISM:

    • Search for "cmd" in the Windows search bar.
    • Right-click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator".
    • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.3
    • Wait for the scan to complete.
    • Type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.
    • Wait for the4 DISM command to complete.
    • Restart your computer.
  8. Third-Party Conflicts:

    • Disable Antivirus:
      • Right-click the antivirus icon in the system tray.
      • Select "Disable" or "Turn Off" (the wording varies depending on your antivirus).
      • Follow any on-screen prompts.
    • Clean Boot:
      • Search for "msconfig" in the Windows search bar and open "System Configuration".
      • Go to the "Services" tab.
      • Check "Hide all Microsoft services".
      • Click "Disable all".
      • Go to the "Startup" tab and click5 "Open Task Manager".
      • In Task Manager, disable all startup items.
      • Close Task Manager and click "OK" in6 System Configuration.
      • Restart your computer.
  9. Manual Update:

    • Open a web browser and go to the "Microsoft Update Catalog" website.
    • Search for "Windows 11 24H2".
    • Identify the correct update for your system architecture (x64 or ARM64).
    • Click the "Download" button next to the appropriate update.
    • Run the downloaded ".msu" file and follow the on-screen instructions.
  10. In-Place Upgrade:

    • Go to the Microsoft website and download the Windows 11 24H2 ISO file.
    • Double-click the ISO file to mount it as a virtual drive.
    • Open the mounted drive in File Explorer.
    • Run the "setup.exe" file.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions, selecting the option to "Keep personal files and apps".
    • Wait for the process to complete, this can take a long time.
