fix inZOI crashing, crash on startup, crash to desktop (CTD), and freezing issues on PC with a comprehensive, step-by-step troubleshooting guide.

1. Verify System Requirements and Compatibility:

  • Minimum Specs: Double-check that your PC meets the minimum and ideally the recommended system requirements for inZOI.
  • Operating System: Ensure your Windows version (Windows 10 or 11) is compatible. Check for required service packs or updates.
  • DirectX Version: inZOI might require a specific DirectX version. Verify and update if necessary.

2. Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Clean Install: Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove old graphics drivers before installing the latest versions.
    • Download DDU from a reputable source.
    • Boot into Safe Mode.
    • Run DDU to remove your current graphics drivers.
    • Restart your PC.
    • Download the latest drivers from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel's website.
    • Perform a clean install of the new drivers.
  • Latest Drivers: Download the most recent drivers directly from the manufacturer's website (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel).

3. Verify Game File Integrity:

  • Steam/Epic Games:
    • Right-click inZOI in your library.
    • Select "Properties."
    • Go to "Local Files" and click "Verify integrity of game files."
    • Wait for the process to complete.
  • Other Platforms: If you downloaded the game from another platform, look for a similar file integrity verification option.

4. Close Background Applications:

  • Task Manager: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  • Close Unnecessary Programs: End any unnecessary applications, especially those that consume significant resources (CPU, RAM, GPU).
  • Disable Startup Programs: Go to the "Startup" tab and disable unnecessary startup programs.

5. Check for Overheating:

  • Monitor Temperatures: Use monitoring software (MSI Afterburner, HWMonitor) to check CPU and GPU temperatures.
  • Improve Cooling: Ensure your PC's fans are working correctly. Clean any dust buildup.
  • Adequate Ventilation: Ensure your PC has adequate ventilation.

6. Adjust In-Game Graphics Settings:

  • Lower Settings: Reduce graphics settings such as resolution, texture quality, shadow quality, and effects.
  • Disable V-Sync: Try disabling V-Sync.
  • Limit Frame Rate: Limit the frame rate to match your monitor's refresh rate.

7. Update Windows:

  • Windows Update: Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.
  • Install All Updates: Install all available updates, including optional ones.

8. Check for Conflicting Software:

  • Antivirus/Firewall: Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall to see if it's causing conflicts.
  • Overlays: Disable any third-party overlays (Discord, Steam, NVIDIA GeForce Experience).

9. Reinstall inZOI:

  • Clean Uninstall: Uninstall inZOI completely.
  • Delete Residual Files: Manually delete any remaining inZOI files from your installation directory.
  • Reinstall: Reinstall the game from the official source.

10. Check for Hardware Issues:

  • RAM Test: Run a memory diagnostic tool (Windows Memory Diagnostic).
  • HDD/SSD Test: Check your hard drive or SSD for errors.
  • GPU Stress Test: Run a GPU stress test (FurMark, Heaven Benchmark) to check for stability.

11. Run in Compatibility Mode/As Administrator:

  • Compatibility Mode: Right-click the inZOI executable, select "Properties," go to the "Compatibility" tab, and try running it in compatibility mode for an older Windows version.
  • Run as Administrator: Right-click the inZOI executable and select "Run as administrator."

12. Check Event Viewer:

  • Event Viewer: Search for "Event Viewer" in the Windows search bar and open it.
  • Windows Logs: Go to "Windows Logs" > "Application" and "System" to check for error messages related to inZOI.
  • This can give clues as to what is happening at the time of the crash.
