I always look forward to sharing important information, so I invite you to stay with me until the very end. Trust me, you won't want to miss any of this!

Today is Friday, and the weekend is just around the corner. But before you dive into relaxation mode, we have plenty of updates to discuss. President Claudia Bonardo has shared some surprises that could significantly impact our lives before the year ends and moving into the next one. It’s something I feel you, my loyal senior audience, will find particularly meaningful, so let’s prepare ourselves for what’s coming.

Before we dive in, let me encourage you all to participate in this conversation. If you would like to send a message or special greeting to President Claudia Bonardo—or even to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador—please feel free to do so in the comments below. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share your thoughts and express your appreciation or concerns directly. Now, without further delay, let’s jump into today’s updates.

The President’s Announcements

Earlier today, President Claudia Bonardo unveiled a new strategy aimed at supporting lowincome families and vulnerable populations. This plan introduces additional welfare programs and resources designed to uplift those most in need. It’s a step forward for those who have long struggled with poverty, marginalization, and lack of access to basic resources. Let’s break it down.

First, let’s address the recently published decree from the Secretary of Welfare. Released on December 24th, it identifies 1,345 municipalities as priority zones requiring immediate federal assistance. These areas, marked by extreme poverty and marginalization, are now at the center of the government’s efforts to bring meaningful change.

Here’s a critical question to consider: Which states and regions are most affected by these conditions? And what specific steps will be taken to ensure that, by 2025, fewer municipalities live in such dire circumstances? The answers lie in a combination of increased funding, strategic initiatives, and the implementation of new welfare programs.

The Core Welfare Programs

President Bonardo has allocated more than 800 billion pesos toward welfare programs. Many of these programs are now guaranteed as constitutional rights, ensuring their continuity regardless of political opposition. Let me remind you how significant this is. During past administrations, such programs were often dismissed as unnecessary or even detrimental, with critics labeling them as "handouts."

But times have changed. Under this administration, there is a renewed focus on recognizing social welfare as a fundamental right, not a privilege. Mexicans deserve access to education, healthcare, pensions, and more, without stigma or judgment.

Among the new programs being introduced are:

1. Expanded Pensions for Seniors: Women aged 60 to 64 in indigenous populations and 63 to 64 in other areas are now eligible for support. Eventually, this will extend to those as young as 60.

2. Universal Scholarships for Students: Starting with secondary school, the new "Rita Cetina" scholarship aims to provide equal educational opportunities for boys and girls across the nation.

3. HousetoHouse Healthcare: Beginning in February, this program will bring medical services directly to people’s homes, ensuring better access to healthcare for all.

Economic Development and Minimum Wage Increases

The government is also prioritizing economic growth through public and private investment. A critical part of this strategy is the continued increase in the minimum wage. Next year, the minimum wage will rise by 12%, bringing us closer to the goal of enabling workers to afford 2.5 basic baskets by the end of the administration’s term. Currently, most earn less than two baskets, but this gradual increase is set to make a substantial difference.

It’s worth noting that these improvements align with the reduction of poverty rates. During the previous administration, over nine million people were lifted out of poverty, and the expectation is that even more will benefit from these new programs.

Special Programs for Agricultural Workers and Mothers

Another area of focus is agricultural workers, particularly those who migrate seasonally for work. Many of these workers, including entire families, travel from states like Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Guerrero to places like Sinaloa for agricultural production. Despite improved conditions, there is still much work to be done in providing adequate housing, education for their children, and support for women.

To address these needs, the government is launching a special program for agricultural workers. Similarly, a dedicated program for working mothers in economically disadvantaged areas aims to offer financial support and childcare resources, ensuring these families have a chance at a better future.

Improved Tax Collection and Economic Stability

One of the most impressive achievements of the current administration is its ability to increase government revenue without raising taxes. This has been possible thanks to improved tax collection efforts by the SAT (Tax Administration Service). By curbing corruption and ensuring that everyone pays their fair share, the government has generated additional income equivalent to 1.5% of the GDP.

These funds are now being directed toward social programs and infrastructure development. For example, Mexicana de Aviación, a oncestruggling airline, has been revived, with new planes set to arrive in 2025. This move not only restores a historic brand but also creates jobs and improves transportation options for Mexicans.

Social Security Payment Updates for 2025

Now, let’s talk about Social Security payments for January 2025. If you’re receiving Social Security, SSI, SSDI, or regular benefits, this information is crucial for planning your finances as we head into the new year.

1. December 31, 2024: SSI recipients will receive their January payment early due to the New Year’s Day holiday.

4. January 15, 2025: Payments for those born between the 11th and 20th.

Tips for Managing Your Benefits

Managing your Social Security benefits effectively is key to financial stability. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your payments:

Track Your Payments: Keep a close eye on your deposits to ensure accuracy and avoid potential errors.

Budget Wisely: Plan your expenses around the payment dates to avoid running short before your next deposit.

Save When Possible: Even small savings can add up over time, providing a cushion for unexpected expenses.

Seek Assistance: If you’re facing financial difficulties, explore additional resources and support programs in your area.

As we step into the new year, let’s remember that these changes are designed to create a better future for all Mexicans. Whether it’s through increased pensions, improved healthcare access, or more robust economic opportunities, the government’s commitment to social welfare and economic stability is evident.
